Anti-tooth decay injection created in China
An injection has now been created in order to target and eliminate tooth decay. The vaccination, crafted by scientists belonging to the China-based Wuhan Institute of Virology, will allegedly be able to prevent the decay of teeth and gums, now giving dentists a shot at reversing or at least preventing dental caries. The miraculous cure is still years away from beginning clinical tests, but once the formula is cracked, dental experts worldwide will be able to look forward to a treatment hailed as a major breakthrough in the fight against tooth loss and decay.
The vaccination is able to fight the decay thanks to its composition, which utilises a vaccine of proteins garnered from the cavity-causing bacteria fused with those from a bacteria strain of E.coli and a third component made from flagella proteins. This allows the resulting protein compound to better move arund and to help prevent the decay with decreased side effects.
The vaccine managed not just to prevent but also to reverse tooth decay by over half when tested on rodents in lab conditions. The tests, which involved administering the new vaccine as a nasal spray, revealed that it had a 64 per cent effectiveness rate at cleaning teeth.
A spokesperson from the British Dental Association (BDA) has warned that we are still a long way from the panacea cure to reverse the effects of a high-sugar diet, and that it is still best to simply avoid an overly sugary diet in order to avoid tooth decay before all else. In the meantime, dental experts are content to continue working on the cure, with this recent breakthrough being heralded as a triumph.
