Immediate Dentures

An immediate denture is a full or partial denture made specifically for a patient before their teeth are extracted and can be inserted on the same day, immediately following the removal of natural teeth.

The most important benefit of same day dentures is providing a full set of teeth straight after extraction, which can be worn throughout the healing process and act as protection while the gums and soft tissue within the mouth heal.

It usually takes around three to four months for the mouth to heal after tooth removal and after this time the immediate denture may not fit properly. Patients often move on to a permanent denture when this occurs, however some decide to have the temporary pair realigned.

An immediate denture will allow you to establish your speech and chewing patterns early. You will not have to learn to speak without a denture in place and will chew better than without any teeth minimising facial distortion that can occur when teeth are removed.

Not all patients are eligible for immediate dentures due to potential oral problems or health issues. Speak to a denture professional about whether same day dentures are an option for you.
