Hybrid Dentures

When a patient has lost several teeth, traditional removable dentures are not the only solution.

Hybrid dentures combine the advantages of a fixed replacement with those of a removable denture. These can be suitable for those who have lost a considerable amount of jawbone and the patient has difficulty wearing a conventional denture.

A hybrid denture requires four or more implants in the jaw, depending on the size and shape of the bone. As the implants heal, they are connected to the metal framework. The denture is then fixed with screws retained into the implants and does not require removal like regular dentures.

However, it is recommended that patients occasionally visit their dentist to remove it for a professional clean. A dental professional can remove the appliance by loosening the screws.

Hybrid dentures offer a variety of benefits including:

  • A cheaper alternative the other denture solutions
  • A natural appearance and less bulky than regular dentures
  • Speak and chew more easily
  • Restore facial contours after bone loss
  • More stable than traditional false teeth

If you wish to wear fixed teeth but are not ready or a suitable candidate for multiple individual implants for each missing tooth, hybrid dentures could be the perfect solution.
